The Golden State Warriors are the 2017 NBA Champions

It is official, Kevin Durant has finally gotten the monkey off his back as the Golden State Warriors are the 2017 NBA Champions. His Instagram name is "EasyMoneySniper" and in the NBA Finals he lived up to his name. Scoring over 30 points in each game, Durant was not to be denied.

When the championship is on the line it is important for your superstars to step up. While everyone talks about Steph Curry's performances in 2015 and 2016, and how he did not seem to be himself, he still managed to average over 20 points per game. While Durant was a phenom this year and until his Game 3 dagger, there was an argument for he and Durant being Co-MVPs. Game 4, Durant gave it his all, but the Cavaliers were hungry. They set a record, knocking down 25 3-pointers and forced a Game 5. But at home, at the Oracle Arena, Durant once again put on a performance of a lifetime. He became the 1st player since Shaquille O'Neal to score at least 30 points in 5 straight Finals games.

The Golden State Warriors did things the right way. Built their team in the draft and signed a superstar. People hate on Durant for joining what they call a Super Team, but the Warriors did not get their superstars through free agency or through trades. They drafted players, found a system that works for them and they emerged as superstars. Yes, Durant was the number two overall pick in the 2007 NBA draft, but let's look at their other superstars.

  1. Steph Curry: 2009 Round 1, Pick 7
  2. Klay Thompson: 2011 Round 1, Pick 11
  3. Draymond Green: 2012 Round 2, Pick 35
Say what you want about the Golden State Warriors, just make sure you call them champions.

Changing My Pick, Warriors Will Win

Kevin Durant is the King Slayer, Sorry LeBron

Maaaan, after the Golden State Warriors, put not one but TWO hurtings on the Cleveland Cavaliers, I am officially changing my pick for the NBA Champion to the Warriors. I picked the Cavs to win 6. However, the way Kevin Durant is playing, there is absolutely NO WAY that even the King himself, LeBron James can come back. If he does, perhaps more people will agree with my opinion that he is the greatest of all time.

In order for my pick to come true, the Cavs will need to win four straight. They will not. Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green are already dangerous. They won 73 games last season. Now you add Kevin Durant to the mix, a guy that many are calling the second best player in the world. Durant has yet to taste championship champagne. Everyone criticized him for leaving Oklahoma City, considering they had a 3-1 lead. He was a free agent, he could od what he want. Did he violate a code? Maybe, or maybe he just let us know exactly what he and Russell Westbrook's friendship really was. Durant, now closer to the NBA Championship than he has ever been, borrowing an injury, I do not see him slowing down.
